The voltage used in Japan is uniformed to 100 volts, A.C. Two kinds of frequencies are being used in Japan. 50 Hertz in Eastern Japan and 60 Hertz in Western Japan (including Nagoya, Kyoto and Osaka) respectively. Generally, American-made electronics (110/60) will have no problems with the Japanese electrical systems.
Electrical appliances that are exchangeable, such as hair dryer, travel iron and shaver, will therefore be handy; step-down transformer is also required to convert the voltage.
Only 2-flat-pin plugs are used in Japan (as shown below) and hence you are advised to prepare a plug adapter.
